What is leptin hormone?
Leptin hormone, which was just recently discovered in 1994, produced mainly by adipose tissue and stimulated by fat cells. The role of leptin hormone is to tell your brain to lower your appetite and increase the amount of energy you burn when you have an extra fat stores. That means that leptin hormone induces weight loss by suppression of food intake and by stimulation of metabolic rate. Researchers expected leptin levels to be low in people who are overweight, which might explain why they ate more than they needed, but they found the opposite was true. People who are obese have higher-than-normal levels of leptin hormone in their blood. They also seem to be insensitive to leptin, all this means that those people can be resistant to leptin. Researchers think overeating leads to a disruption in the way leptin works in the body rather than it triggering your brain to stop you from overeating, then your brain becomes insensitive to leptin levels. So liptin hormone controls 100% of your body’s ability to burn fat. So if you stay lean your body can control leptin.Finally when you can control your brain and reset leptin hormone you can lose weight.
